What is Keller Williams Realty Cares?

KW Cares is a tax exempt 501(c)3 public charity created to support Keller Williams Realty associates, their families in times of extreme hardship, and others in the community and the world.

This charity is the heart of the Keller Williams Realty culture in action – finding and serving the higher purpose of business through charitable giving in the communities where our agents live and work.

KW Cares was the brainchild of the agents of Keller Williams Realty and Mo Anderson, CEO of Keller Williams Realty International, took this dream and brought it to fruition. Today it is supported by all KW associates

Even now as we focus on bringing relief to members of our KW family affected by Hurricane Katrina, KW Cares continues to support personal challenges of all types. The charity continues to be committed and available to all associates in times of national and personal crisis. KW Cares also benefits other charities that are aligned with the mission and values of Keller Williams Realty and KW Cares.

What is a 501(c)3?

Identified by the IRS – a 501(c)3 is an organization that has been federally-authorized to receive tax deductible donations. A 501(c)3 accepts donations and offers donors a tax exemption on their gifts as allowed by law.

All KW Cares donations go directly to those who need them.

100% of your contributions go directly to KW family members in need and charities that are aligned with the mission and values of Keller Williams Realty and KW Cares.

What is KW Cares Heart 2 Heart Program?

In an effort to provide long-term support for those affected by Hurricane Katrina, each Gulf States KW family has been “adopted” by market centers from across North America. Every market center has an assigned family. . Because we do not want the Heart to Heart Program to be associated strictly with a tragedy like Hurricane Katrina and because the program is so important and has worked so well, we have implemented it as a permanent part of our program that will deal with all special needs and opportunities to do good in our communities as they arise.

What is a “Heart Specialist?”

The market center’s primary Heart 2 Heart leader is the Heart Specialist, who determines the scope of the family’s essential needs, and integrates those needs with the resources of the market center or others in their network. They focus on immediate, and then long-term needs of those affected. I am the Heart Specialist in Hawaii.

Are my donations tax-deductible?

Yes, all donations to KW Cares are tax-deductible, to the extent that the law allows. Monetary donations are generally 100% deductible. The only exception would be if the donor paid to attend an event where meals or gifts were provided with the price of admission. In these cases, the receipt generated for the donation will indicate exactly what portion of the donation is tax-deductible.

Goods that are donated for the purposes of fundraising are also tax-deductible based on their current market value, which the donor must provide using the Receipt for Donated Goods form.

Who controls and manages KW Cares?

The Board of Directors is comprised of Keller Williams Realty leaders from across North America and determines policy, oversees and guides the mission of KW Cares. They also make grant decisions.
